The Mendelorian is a loving homage to two of our favorite things: great sci-fi and the dedicated Chabad shluchim (emissaries) who travel the world making Jewish life accessible to Jews everywhere. Like a certain legendary bounty hunter, the Mendelorian follows a strict code. For observant Jews, that code is halacha —the Torah’s way of life, as explained by our Sages. The Jewish way is also commonly called the derech , literally, “the way.” That is why the Hebrew on this design reads זו הדרך ( Zo Haderech )—“This is the way.” We kind of hope it catches on among rabbis. It would make giving advice sound considerably cooler. Fans of The Mandalorian may remember that Mando was considered unusually orthodox even by other Mandalorians. Perhaps if he had possessed the warm-hearted charm of our Mendelorian, those conversations would have gone a little differently. One thing is for certain: if a synagogue ever opens in the Outer Rim, it will probably be a Chabad.
