Maccabee Apparel’s Operator design honors the memory of SGM Lawrence Freedman, z”l — a Jewish Delta Force operator, Green Beret, and American warrior who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Known among fellow soldiers as “Super Jew,” Freedman stood at the tip of the spear while proudly carrying the identity others claimed Jews lacked: patriot, fighter, teammate, and protector.
The Hebrew phrase Lehatir Asurim — “to release the captive” — echoes both a traditional Jewish blessing and the Special Forces motto De Oppresso Liber, “to free the oppressed.” It is the same spirit that runs through Maccabee Apparel’s military-inspired designs: faith, service, courage, and the refusal to let anyone else define Jewish strength.
Operator is a tribute to Jewish service members, veterans, special operators, enablers, and everyone who knows that the tribe has always had warriors.
