These words of defiance were originally spoken by Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin in 1982 to then-Senator Joe Biden, when the latter used the former's visit as an opportunity to threaten to cut U.S. aid to Israel.
At Maccabee Apparel, we're not in the business of politics. We were inspired to use this famous speech as the basis of a design not because of our current president, but because Jews in Israel and around the world are currently under siege. In Israel, a constant barrage of terrorist rockets and the international condemnation of any efforts at self defense. Elsewhere, Jews are being attacked in the streets for the crime of being Jewish (excuse us, for being "Zionists." Because supporting equal rights for Jews is apparently a legitimate reason to commit a hate crime, and of course the attackers always stop to ask the guy in the yarmulke to expound upon his political views before they bash his head in.) As Mark Twain once said, history doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes.
