While Maccabee Apparel specializes in Judaically-inspired items, some of our biggest fans and supporters aren't even Jewish--and that's awesome! This one is for you guys.
For thousands of years, Jews lived life according to covenant God made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and reaffirmed through Moses at Mount Sinai. It's a complicated arrangement, with a LOT of rules (613 of them, to be exact). What some might not know is that He also made a covenant with Noah (See: Seven Laws of Noah - Wikipedia), the noble ancestor of all living human beings. There are people today who embrace that spiritual path, and they are honored with the title "Noachide" or "B'nei Noach" (Children of Noah).
Our "Son of Noah" design features a very ancient scroll, emblazoned with those words in Paleo-Hebrew script. While the traditional symbol of B'nei Noach is a rainbow (representing the Seven Commandments, and the eternal sign that first appeared after the Great Flood), there is some potential for confusion there, so we backed the scroll with an olive wreath, a symbol of peace, and the olive leaf the dove brought back to Noah in the ark, showing that the land was healing.
Take pride in your heritage, Sons of Noah! And know that, when you go back far enough, all humankind is one great big family.
