Maccabee Apparel's Zealot design is an homage to the movie/graphic novel "300." You know the scene, and you've probably seen the memes. We've taken some artistic liberty with the history, doing to the Roman occupation of the Land of Israel what "Django Unchained" did to the American slavery, and what "Inglourious Basterds" did to the Nazis. In other words: This is how it should have ended.
In the illustration, a Judaean freedom fighter kicks a Roman centurion off the edge of the mountaintop Masada fortress while declaring: "This, is, JUDAEA!"
Ultimately, in real life the besieged Jewish rebels would fall before the war machine of the Roman Empire. But the joke's on them, because unlike Imperial Rome, we're still here. Am Yisrael chai!
